If you do plan out a event and do not feel comfortable following through with this, please do not feel obligated but merely try and inform people as you can or have all the info together so others can take part if they wish. In other words, do not feel bad if you can't follow through on it or even have someone else follow through with the idea that was presented if you can not follow through on it. Your event should not conflict with, be planned on the same day as another sdnet.singles event.
The main point I hope to make is when planning events try for the following format posted 4-6 days in advance of the event you are planning if possible:
Date:
Time:
Location:
Directions:
A Two Part Planner:
I) Post a article for the event to sdnet.singles In this post offer your idea of what you would like to do. The date that *might* be what you would like for this event. Then two very important questions. One question is to ask for commitment from (X) amount of people. The (X) amount of people will depend upon you and what you would like to see as a bare min. of people to attend. The second question is what dates are best or worse from these people that have committed to the event. This post should be put out about two weeks prior to the actual event you hope to have it on. Just because only (X) amount of people have committed does not mean that more will show up as many people usually end up showing up anyways.
II) After this post is out for a week and you see enough interest and dates look like they can be work out for everyone; then post the "Official" announcement (best if posted about 5-7 days prior to the actually event). In this official announcement put all details, times, places to meet, everything needed for anyone to attend. Some events may even need a RSVP which is fine pending what the event is.
I am hoping in this type of guide line it will make life easier for many and will take the fear out of some folks who might be afraid of a bad turn out as well.
