Personal Information:
I am from a small midwestern town, Pecatonica, located in northern Illinois.
I moved to San Diego in August, 2005 to attend SDSU for a Masters in Biochemistry.
I decided to pursue a PhD in March 2006. I have fulfilled all my course requirements
at UCSD for the PhD. I will continue with my dissertation research @SDSU until
finished. I stay involved with the San Diego Scuba Club, the San Diego Herpetological
Society and the San Diego Ocean Foundation.
In my first year, the highlight of my scientific education was the opportunity
to use the Advanced Photon Source @ Argonne National Laboratory. I was using
the Structural Genomics' beam-line to "shoot" several crystals that
Dr. Huxford had prepared.
I have immensely enjoyed living in San Diego. I try to experience all that
the region has to offer. I have attended the Miramar Air-show, Fleet Week,
concerts, and several Aztec football games. Not to mention Disney World, Sea
World, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Birch Aquarium at Scripps,
Monterey Bay Aquarium, Aquarium of the Pacific, and The San Diego Natural
History Museum. I have many activities that I love to do including: kayaking,
fishing, SCUBA diving, hiking, camping, boating and off-road driving.
