Test Items
Feedback solicited from two Subject Matter Experts who help administer Parcel Manager and train student workers.
(* denotes reccommended by SME's, X denotes not recommended by SME's, SME's also suggested new questions)
Practice Items Modules 1: The Delivery Process
- * Put the three steps of the delivery process in order:
- Package delivered to Student Activity Center.
- Package logged in to Parcel Manager.
- Student pickes up package from SAC.
- X The Parcel Manager is used to log packages from the following couriers:
- UPS
- FedEx
- DHL
- USPS
- All of the above
- * Students will be notified to pick up a package by:
- A note in their on-campus mailbox.
- An email generated by the Parcel Manager.
- Phone call from desk assistant.
- An email from the courier (eg. UPS).
- X True/False. All packages for ERC students are distributed using the Parcel Manager.
- False. Some packages will be distributed by Mail Services. If a student comes in to the Student Activity Center with a printed notice from Mail Services direct them to the Middle Earth Office.
- X The Parcel Manager is made up of the following types of files:
- Data
- Program
- Information
- Package
Module 2: Logging Packages
- * True/False. You do not need to enter a student’s name, when you type in the mailbox number from the package, the correct student name appears.
- False. Student names and mailbox numbers are already in the system, but if two students share a mailbox the Parcel Manager will not be able to process the mailbox number. You will need to type both the six-digit mailbox number and student name by hand. If the name is not in the roster, call the ResLife Office at 4-2261.
- X Click the button that will log the package and send an automated email to the student when you click the button labeled:
- “Send Notification”
- “Add Parcel”
- “Email Student”
- “Submit”
- * If the internet is not working and you cannot log packages, you will need to write down the following information and bring it to the ERC ResLife Office (Click all that apply):
- Name of student
- Student PID
- Tracking number
- Email address of student
- Mailbox Number
- # of Packages
- * (Suggested by SME)
If the name and/or mailbox number on the package does not match the information in the system exactly, you should:
- Call ResLife Office to have them research the package.
- Enter the package as it is.
- Call the student for confirmation of the package.
- Return the package to sender.
Module 3: Distributing Packages
- X True/False. Once you give the student the package you should sign that the package has been distributed.
- False. Before handing over the package, have the student sign on the next open barcode on the signature sheet.
- X After a student signs for the package, double-click the student’s name and then select:
- “Complete Transaction”
- “Submit”
- “Distribute Parcel”
- “End This”
- * If you cannot find a package the first thing you should do is:
- Write a note and place it in the End of Duty Manila Envelope.
- Call the ERC ResLife Office immediately.
- Check the entire package room one more time.
- Ask the student what the package looks like.
- * (Suggested by SME)
If you still cannot find the package, you should:
- Tell the student the package is lost and they should wait to hear from the ResLife Office.
- Contact ResLife Office by phone, email or note so that someone can follow-up on the package.
- Let the student look in the package room for their package.
- Check the entire package room one more time.
- * (Suggested by SME)
If you find a package in the package room but it is not in the system, you should:
- Give the package to the student.
- Tell the student to go to the ResLife Office.
- Call the ResLife Office.
- Enter the package into the system then proceed with normal distribution procedures.
Final Self-test Items
- * What do you do if the tracking number will not scan?
- Make up a 10 digit tracking number.
- Type in the tracking number from the package.
- The tracking number is not needed.
- The tracking number is already entered by ResLife Office staff.
- * The first thing you should do when a student comes to pick up a package is:
- Ask for the mailbox number.
- Ask which courier sent the package.
- Ask to see the student’s ID.
- Ask for the room number.
- * The final step when distributing a package is always:
- Scan the barcode where the student signed, then input your initials.
- Click the “Distribute Parcel” button.
- Check the box next to “Transaction Complete.”
- Sending an email to the ResLife Office stating which package was distributed.
Feedback on Test Items
The Subject Matter Experts had a series of suggestions:
- Editing of questions and/or answers.
- New questions not included in original test items.
- Reccommendations of which questions to use and not use.
1. Editing Questions and/or answers
In some cases, questions were worded poorly or unclearly according to the SME's. Edits were made where necessary. Some answers were not exactly correct and re-wording was needed to make them correct.
2. New questions not included in original test items
New questions were proposed
by the subject matter experts. However, the questions were deemed overly precise and not entirely appropriate for this tutorial.
3. Reccommendations of which questions to use and not use
All the reccommendations from the SME's were carefully considered. However, some questions that were deemed too easy were still used but as practice items instead of test items. Some questions that were reccommended were not used because they did not complement the material included in the tutorial.
