Why SDSU Sports MBA Valuable business education: Although highly specialized for the sports industry through sports-specific coursework, case studies, class discussions, guest lecturers, and consulting projects, the Sports MBA curriculum offered is an accredited Master of Business Administration (MBA). Graduates of the program receive an MBA diploma from the College of Business Administration at SDSU that is structured for relevance and maximum utility in the modern sports industry. Sports MBA graduates posses a strong quantitative skill set that is applicable to any commercial segment of the sports world. These skills are also translatable to other industries outside of sports, allowing our graduates to apply their MBA to any future professional endeavor, a degree of flexibility unavailable to most graduates of traditional sports management MA or MS degree programs. Accelerated Classroom Experience: The SDSU program is the only sports-specific MBA program- and one of the few MBA programs nationwide- that can be completed in under 18 months. The SDSU schedule is a 12 month intensive session in the classroom, followed by a 6 month consulting experience in the sports field. The consultancy period is purposely positioned at the end of the program, affording our graduates the best possible opportunity to remain with their respective sports organizations in a full-time capacity immediately following their consulting period and graduation from SDSU. Worldwide Industry Partnerships: In addition to our local partnerships in San Diego and Southern California, SDSU’s connections in the sports industry truly span the globe. Following the twelve month classroom experience, students are permitted to conduct a six month as a sports business consultant anywhere in the world. Our extensive work with the San Diego Padres in the Dominican Republic and in-class focus on international opportunities help prepare students to succeed in a sports industry position within the U.S. or abroad. |
