To Apply for a US Passport

All US citizens participating in the Shanghai Summer Program will need an entry visa and at least 6 months remaining validity before their passport expiration date to enter China.

To apply for a US passport you will need:

• Official birth certificate
• Two passport photos (2” x 2”)
• Photo ID
• $100 Application Fee

Visa Requirement for US Citizen’s Travel to China

Visa is required for non-Chinese passport holders. Please contact the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles or a local travel agent for visa application procedures.

Recommended flights

Even though participants are free to choose any flight and airline for the trip to Shanghai, in order to ensure everyone arrives at the same time in Shanghai Pudong airport for the airport pickup, a list of recommended flights will be offered to applicants.
