Working Title:  Afro-Mexicans Demographics in Southern Mexico

Report Author: Stanley Greene

Profile of Users:

Most of the users have an educational technology background but the third user had no educational background.

Think Aloud Task:

Users were given an assignment of evaluating the website alone.  After reviewing the site alone, I sat next them.  We reviewed the site together.  It was a loud summary of my site.  The users located more issues when the summary session took place.

Summary of Think Aloud:

The 1st user pointed out more grammatical errors more than anything else.   The 2nd user noticed that my layout of pictures seem to conflict with each other.  The 2nd user felt that my video and JPG pictures were too close together.  The 2nd user suggested that I right justify my paragraphs because it was too many white spaces. The 3rd user said that the individual in the video should be identified because she is explaining Afro-history.

Summary of Post-test interview:

It was pointed out that the fonts on the left and right of the web page were the same size.  I was told that fonts should be used to stress the importance of a paragraph over another.  My videos do have Spanish speakers who do not speak English.  It was said that having an interpreter would be a nice touch or some type of close caption.

Findings to be implemented:

As a result of the beta test, I will make the following changes:

á      Correct the grammatical errors

á      Reposition the pictures to produce a better look and feel

Findings that will not be implemented

á      I was not able to get my friend to do the Spanish to English overlay.

á      I do not know how to do anything close caption

á      I tried to change the fonts in the CSS and justify right, but it was difficult to change.
