Profile of Users:
All the users have an educational technology background. They work for the Instructional Technology Services for San Diego State University. They are very familiar with website style and design.
Think Aloud Task:
Followed the three main steps: Aloud summary, Post-interview and Findings
Summary of think Aloud
The 1st user pointed out that the main CSS image did not correspond with the subject matter. He also said that each web page needed to be identified. The 2nd user found the maps were difficult to read. The map print was too small. Also, some of the pictures seem to be squeezed into an unnatural look. He said that the web page background color could be better. The 3rd user felt that my links were confusing and that the maps were not very intuitive. He felt that I was missing a contact page.
Summary of Post-test interview
One user said the web page links should be moved to a better location. All the users agreed that some of the maps and images were very difficult to read. Another user pointed out that the background color could be better.
Findings to be implemented
As a result of the alpha test, I will make the following changes:
á Change the main CSS image to relate to subject matter.
á Make the images more understandable to user by giving more information about the image and its purpose.
á Do my best to resize the pictures to give the images a more natural look.
á Reposition the web page links to eliminate the standard advertisement look.
á Add a contact page for possible web audience response.
á Change the background color.
Findings that will not be implemented
á
Some of the pictures cannot be altered to a natural
look. I have a predefined space;
therefore, I will not be able to adjust the picture size very much.
