The video reveals a variety of seafood dishes which is common in the la costa chica. They are fishermen as well as farmers. The footage was taken during a El Encuentro de Los Negroes (Meeting of the Blacks) in San Nicolas, Guerrero, Mexico.

Afro-Mexicans participate in the Guelguetza in Oaxaca every year. Guelaguetza is a traditional folk dance festival which is celebrated in Oaxaca, Mexico during the last two weeks of July.

• Afro-Mexicans have been in Mexico from the colonial period to now. They maybe invisible to the general Mexican population and the Mexican government, it does not matter because they will continue to exist even if they are not acknowledge as a Mexican. They have struggled for centuries and yet, they will continue to struggle.
• Afro-Mexicans have a triple heritage: Indian, European, and African. They may not embrace all of who they are, but they know that they are Mexican.
