Mission

 

The purpose of the Doctoral Student Council in Education (DSCE) is to provide a professional forum for doctoral students in education to network, exchange knowledge, share research and engage in constructive conversations about programs and policies. The Council seeks to enhance the experiences of doctoral students by promoting communication and providing leadership opportunities. The Council encourages collaboration among individuals who are confident, competent and caring and who have leadership and mentoring skills along with high standards of excellence.

DSCE was approved as an on-campus organization on March 24, 2005 by the Centers for Student Involvement at San Diego State University.

Membership Info

 

DSCE's members share a belief that collaborative educational exchange advances learning and scholarship and encourages constructive leadership in a global community.

Who becomes a member:

Eligibility for membership or appointed or elected student officer positions in DSCE is not limited on the basis of race, sex, color, age, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, physical or mental handicap, ancestry or medical condition, except as explicitly exempted in federal law.

There are no dues for membership in the organization.

• Full Membership

1. You are a regularly-enrolled San Diego State University student

2. You are enrolled in one of the SDSU-affiliated doctoral programs in education (see "DSCE Programs" below)

3. You are in good academic standing

4. Provide your full name, Red ID #, cohort #, Phone #, and Email to Virginia Loh.

• Associate Membership

DSCE has associated members who are non-students (graduates of the program or ABD candidates) or who do not meet the above criteria. They have all membership privileges except for the right to vote or hold office in the organization.

• SDSU-UCSD Mathematics and Science Education,

• SDSU-UCSD-CSU San Marcos Educational Leadership and

• USD Leadership Studies.
