There are two possible methods of joining the Badminton Team, as a team member or club member:
The Team - By joining the team, you are required to be an SDSU student (at least 6 units) and ARC (Aztec Recreation Center) member in addition to paying the annual $15 club membership dues. You will be required to attend at lease two practices a week and will be traveling and competing in games and tournaments against other schools in the league. You will have priority access to play in the Peterson Gym on campus during our reserved times.
The Club - Club members can be either persons wanting to play badminton recreationally at SDSU or those who would like to play on the team but need further skill development. Club members must still be ARC members and pay the $15 club membership dues. Attendance is not mandatory and you are not obligated to attend team matches, though it it highly encouraged!
There is also the option of playing for the team as a "JV" (junior varsity) player. As a JV, you have all the responsibilities of a team member, including travel to away games. However, you will play "extra" matches against other schools. These matches do not count toward the final score but are skill/experience developmental opportunities.
Unfortunately, international students here in the American Language Institute program are not allowed to play. This issue is beyond our control and is a university policy that we do not agree with.
Every member of the club and team must agree to abide by the below team bylaws.
