President:
Being the President of SNO affords you many learning
experiences. Duties of President include: being an official
representative of SNO, establishing time/place for SNO meetings,
leading Officer and Member meetings, management of SNO email
account (sno_sdsu@yahoo.com), overseeing planning/completion of
SNO activities, composing/printing Letters of Participation, and
conducting officer elections. As President you are given the
opportunity to assume a leadership role, work collaboratively
with your fellow officers, receive satisfaction upon successful
completion of a planned activity, reach out to the community
through numerous volunteer opportunities, and meet/get to know
SDSU faculty and your fellow classmates. As the president before
me said, this position can require anywhere from 5-20 hours a
week – it depends on you; keep in mind that you also have a
cabinet of officers who are there to support you and help SNO
run smoothly. I’ve had a lot of fun being President and it was a
beneficial learning experience! You’ll love the job!

Vice President:
As Vice President of SNO job duties include: Designing the SNO
T-Shirts and organize the selling of them. This includes taking
orders, talking with the shirt printers, picking up the shirts,
and getting them to the members with in a reasonable amount of
time. Also as VP you should attend all member meetings and
officer meetings. The VP should attend as many events as they
can. You should always know what is going on with the club and
be willing to help the other officers plan and facilitate
events. Being VP of SNO can be a lot of work, but staying
organized and informed makes it run smoothly.

Burkett 07/08 Vice President

Secretary:
I attended
officer and SNO meetings and wrote down the length of each
meeting, what was said during each meeting that covered all
events, and e-mailed the transcriptions of each meeting. I
recorded points for each SNO member to include meetings
attended, SNO gear, SNO activiites, food brought, and total
points. I attended 2 outside events and activities.
I kept hard copies of all SNO attendance sheets for reference in
case of any disputes over point totals. I made and printed
out SNO attendance sheets (3-4 per meeting) in order to record
information at each SNO meeting.

Treasurer:
The SNO treasurer is responsible for the organization's finances through the Credit Union bank
account (which is on campus). As a treasurer you need to switch the account name to yours,
make deposits, write checks, and make sure the balance is correct. As a treasurer you will spend
a decent amount of time during the beginning of each semester handling new member dues. SNO
sales, such as T-shirts, will also be relatively time consuming. During the rest of the semester there
will be occasional checks written or deposits that need to be made but it does not take much time
to complete. You are to be the only one who handles the finances, therefore you have to keep
track of reimbursements and any other money that comes into or leaves the account. Fortunately,
you can go to Donna Beshgetoor when you need help or look through the SNO binder in the SNO

As the Student Coordinator of Professional Speakers, your
responsibilities will include finding speakers to speak at the
biweekly meetings (about 4-5 each semester), maintaining the
bulletin board in West Commons, organizing Future Aztec Day and
the College Nutrition Bowl. This position is a great
opportunity to network in the professional dietetic community in
San Diego
and facilitate your fellow SNO members with opportunities to
meet these professionals as well.

Health & Fitness Liaison:
1-
Organize the hikes/walks the club does itself. Try and schedule
one hike per month or so. There are a list of hikes in the
health and fitness rep binder.
2-
Organize and plan SNO’s participation in the BOO parade. It is
your duty to make sure all the decorations are together (there
are many up in the SNO office) and buy the supplies needed. For
example, since it is a Halloween parade I would suggest
purchasing candy and other pamphlets from the ADA that support
Nutrition. (we have some of these pamphlets in the SNO office)
Bill was in charge of the parade last year, he is very helpful.
His contact information is
William_Marckwardt@comerica.com
3-
Although it is completely up to the club and the type of outside
walk/run for a charity, it is very fun to get the club together
to participate in the Jingle Bell Walk/Run for Arthritis. If
you google this in San Diego, you will find the updated version
for the following year. Registration usually begins in late
October/early November.
4-
Support SNO’s other activities such as the field trips
and other various activities SNO partakes in. As a SNO member,
remember you are required to participate in two outside events!
5-
Attend the officer and SNO member meetings are regularly as you
can!
6-
Enjoy SNO!! It is what you make it, so have fun and
enjoy learning about and interacting with those in your field,
it is a great way to make connections for your future!

Public Relations
As
a public relations officer, I am in charge of posting fliers
around campus to ensure that students know about upcoming
meeting and events. The fliers indicate the time, date, place,
and the speaker of the meeting. Some of the most important
places to post the fliers include the West Commons SNO board,
Storm Hall, ENS, and PSFA since these building hold nutrition
classes. Fliers should also be posted throughout the campus such
as Aztec center, East Commons, and other campus posting sites.
This year, I am also in charge of the 2007-2008 SNO
picture album. I collect pictures from nutrition students and
upload them to a server so that all SNO members can see them.
Pictures can come from any SNO event such as hikes and meetings
and also from classes.
