What happens during the studies?

We currently have two studies underway. The first is a study looking at how infants and toddlers process and understand the visual world between the ages of 10 – 27 months and consists of a one-time session (Habituation Study). The second is a child language development study beginning when infants are 10 months and finishing when they are 27 months of age and consists of 12 sessions (Longitudinal Study). Please click on the links below for further information about each study.

Both studies comply with federal guidelines for ethical research conduct and is supported by the Linguistics Department of San Diego State University and the National Science Foundation.

The Results

Our findings are published in academic journals and presented at research conferences. In addition, we prepare reports on our findings for parents who have participated in our study to share what we've learned about child language development.
