Problem, Need, or Opportunity
This website will be used as a Math Resume and resource guide for students and parents. In a few years, I may need to relocate school districts. With that said, I need to make sure that I have something that shows that not only can teach math, but that I can do it using the newest technology to improve my studentsÕ understanding of the concept. This website will also be used as a marketing tool to show what I have done, what interactive activities IÕm developed and used, and what I will be doing in the classroom.
Audience
The audience for this website would be future employers, parents, and students. It will also be used as a reference guide for fellow teachers to use in their own classes to improve student engagement.
User Needs
The needs will be fairly different for the potential employer, parents, and students, but they should address all concerns as well as showcase my abilities.
Students will be able to view this website for previous lessons and for review. They will also be able to check their homework every night as well as get any previous worksheets to accompany their work.
Parents will be able to keep track of their studentÕs progress and know what is assigned on a daily basis. They will also see the types of activities weÕre doing in the classroom.
Employers will be able to see just a small sampling of what I am capable of in terms of technology and mathematics. This should at least get some attention as to what other assets I can bring to the table.
These needs will be served by providing a small resume of my accomplishments as well as other achievements that I have had. In addition all parties will have seen what IÕve done in the past through my activities or media files so that they too can get an idea of what they can look forward to.
Environment
All users will be able to access this site from their homes, offices and even their cell phones. This site will be used as a source of information for their students or for possible activities. Their computers will not require a fast connection to run all of the pages, but if they are running a relatively fast computer they will be able to access the media aspect of the page, which includes sample Podcasts from students.
Resources and Limitations
The resources for my website are readily available and I will be creating the rest myself. I would have developed these resources for the classroom. In addition, the sample work provided will have the students/ parents permission for use on my website. Any photos that would be used for this website will have their parents permission and will not contain their last names for privacy reasons.
General Solution
This site will have multiple purposes. First, IÕd give future employers a
small glimpse of what IÕm capable of technologically speaking. It will also showcase my talents as a
math teacher, and any achievements IÕve received. The second is that all parents can keep an eye on what their
childÕs homework is, as well as what is due and what they are learning. This will be helpful so that all
students have every chance to be successful because the people around them are
all informed about what is necessary for their student to succeed. Lastly, so that all students can review
the days lesson by going back to lesson, and so that they know what homework
are expected to be completed. This
should rectify any and all problems with students/parents not knowing what is
due.
