Although the Mount Whitney group of 14,000+' peaks is more well known, I think the Palisade group of 14,000+ peaks are more spectacular. This is a picture of the east side of the northern part of the Palisades. Summit lake is in the foreground. Mount Sill is the left most peak and Thunderbolt is the peak just to the right of the right most notch (known as the Underhill Couloir). North Palisade (North Pal) is in the center between the leftmost notch (the U Notch Couloir) and the Underhill Couloir. The glacier in the center is Palisade Glacier (the largest of the sierra glaciers).
