Thank You Notes from the 2007 scholarsip winners

Dear Scholarship Committee:

I am writing to thank you for the SDSU Retirement Association Scholarship that I was awarded. It is an honor to be chosen as a recipient of this award. I value my education at San Diego State University and this scholarship will allow me to continue my educational pursuits at SDSU without additional financial burden.

I have always looked forward to honing my practice as an educator and welcome the opportunity to acquire the skills that will prepare me to assume a greater leadership role in our local educational institutions. I am honored to attend the SDSU College of Education. The faculty and staff provide the high quality graduate education that I am seeking. This, in turn, enables me to better serve my students. Furthermore, the faculty and staff at SDSU have continuously been supportive of my educational endeavors.

I look forward to continuing to work with elementary school students in an urban setting and helping them acquire the skills necessary for a productive future. In addition, I hope to instill in them a love of education, a desire to be a life long learner and a desire to give back to their community.

Thank you again for your generosity. I truly appreciate your support and look forward to a time when I can help others as you have aided me.

Warmly,

Milena Aubry

Dear Ms. Norma Summersgill,

I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to the Retirement Association here at San Diego State for being awarded the Scholarship. I would like to thank the committee that was responsible for making the decision. I would also like to say that I am in debt to the professors that have made this possible for me. I would not have been able to do well academically without the brilliant and insightful professors who have worked with me, teaching me how to succeed in their classes. We are blessed to have such excellent faculty here at San Diego State and I am very lucky to be one of their students. I am also grateful and proud for being a second generation SDSU student and for the commitment that my mother has made to the university during her 32 years with the Advising Center.

I am very grateful that the committee has recognized my financial need for help with university-related costs. Last semester, I studied abroad in Spain and the experience was one that I will never forget and it helped me mature as an individual. Although I have no regrets, it did provide more financial strain on me and my family than a normal semester would. Additionally, I plan to take prep courses in order to prepare myself for the LSAT and GRE tests. Depending on which test I do better at will determine which schools I apply to. This scholarship will be really helpful for the costs of all this. On top of that, both of my parents are now retired and this scholarship couldn’t have come at a more welcomed time. Thank you again for all the help.

Sincerely,

David Vidal

Dear Members of the S.D.S.U. Retirement Association,

I would like to sincerely thank you for awarding me with this scholarship. It is an honor to be awarded with this scholarship, which will greatly help me succeed in my educational goals by helping pay for my tuition and books.

I would also like to thank the Retirement Association committee for being so welcoming and accommodating with the interview process.

With this scholarship I will be able to focus more on my education as a Television, Film, and New Media major without the worry of finance getting in the way. Again thank you so much for this award, I greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Jenifer Gilbert
