As Long As There’s Life
There’s Hope
 (For Christine)

One Woman stood up…against the angry, fawning crowd,
and spoke “her” mind… “her” mind,
as the rest of them genuflected,
on their knees

and paid heed and tribute
to the Pretender,
with his slick yet thick,
garbled voice…addled by the drugs

and…yea…those Uncle Toms,
did speaketh “his” mind…. “his” mind,
“we’re all ready to die”
just give us the word

it’s just a little bitter tasting.
