Computer simulation of a wave front with variable speed

As part of my social service project for my physics degree, I developed several numerical and semi-analytical techniques for the simulation of a wave front in variable speed media. These numerical simulations are based on Huygens' principle: all points of a wavefront serve as sources of secondary spherical fronts, with frequency and speed matching the source point, such that the primary wavefront at some later time is the envelope of these secondary waves. The simple nature of Huygens' principle makes these simulations a perfect tool for teaching wave propagation at a junior level.
