The career fair provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the many career options in statistics. You will have the opportunity to speak informally with representatives from academic, biotech, computer, defense, government, marketing, and pharmaceutical organizations from the San Diego area. Some of these companies have current job openings! Anyone with an interest in statistics is welcome.

You are cordially invited to participate as an exhibitor in the Fifth Annual STATISTICAL CAREERS DAY co-sponsored by the San Diego Chapter of the American Statistical Association (SDASA) and other organizations to be held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at San Diego State University. This is a unique opportunity to meet young statisticians, introduce them to your organization, and help them learn about the diverse opportunities, challenges, and prerequisites for a successful career in statistics.

The exhibitor's hall will open at 11 a.m. for set-up. Each exhibitor will be provided with a table and a sign. The Careers Day will begin at 9:30, see the events details page. Exhibitors may elect to attend the morning session or just come for the career fair at lunch.

Corporate exhibitors often use Careers Day as a recruitment opportunity, which is a welcome activity. There are no facilities for interviewing, so we ask that you only distribute information about your open positions and contact potential candidates at a later time. Careers Day is an educational event, so your participation will be appreciated regardless of any open positions. Students will really appreciate your expertise and advice about the nature of a career in industry and how to prepare for this career. Academic departments often use Careers Day to recruit students, but we also hope to provide an opportunity for participants to speak with faculty about the nature of an academic career.

You can register for the event at the SD Chapter of the ASA web site. If you are unable to participate in person, we can display or distribute materials about your organization, or about specific openings. Career day is free of charge to all participants, including exhibitors. Bringing free paraphernalia (pens, pads, etc.) with your company's logo makes you a big hit with the students! SDASA Career Day offers your organization a unique opportunity for targeted exposure, and it offers you an opportunity to make a difference in how young statisticians will use their talents.
