STUDENTS: Are you considering a career in math, computers or science? Are you unsure about the different options in these areas? Come learn about the diverse, interesting and lucrative job possibilities in statistics! Find out why The Jobs Rated Almanac names "Statistician" as having the best job environment! Talk to local representatives about jobs in San Diego! Find out what employers want to see on your résumé!

This career fair provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the many career options in statistics. In the morning, you will learn about the field of statistics from the featured speaker. Then our panel of local statisticians will discuss what it's like to be a statistician in each of their diverse fields. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to speak informally with representatives from academic, biotech, computer, defense, government, marketing, and pharmaceutical organizations from the San Diego area. Some of these companies have current job openings! Anyone with an interest in statistics is welcome.

Tentative schedule of events:
9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Welcome with coffee, juice and donuts at San Diego State University
10:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Introductory Remarks
10:15 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Hal Stern, Ph.D., Professor and Chair, Dept. of Statistics, UC Irvine
11:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Break
11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Panel of Local Statisticians on "What It's Like to be a Statistician"
12:15 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Lunch, Poster competition, and Career Fair
