This
course provides an introductory overview to the teaching profession,
through university classroom and fieldwork expereince for those
considering this career. This course is made up of two major components:

A |
The
university course is designed to deliver the basic tools necessary
to successfully perform in a public education classroom, with
the guidance of a Mentor Teacher. Basic concepts of the teaching
profession will be introduced, such as classroom management,
teaching methodology, theories of learning, and valuing cultural
diversity in the classroom. |

The
component of fieldwork experience will be fulfilled by the student
Proteégé spending ten hours a week in the classroom
of the Mentor Teacher, while observing, participating in small
group instruction, and assisting in the general duties/functions
of daily classroom activity. |
