Subjects:

One person took part. She had some experience creating basic websites for her classroom. She is a credentialed teacher for elementary school and has three children of her own.

Think Aloud Task:

Navigate the website and give opinion of layout and usability.

Summary of Think Aloud:

We started with my portfolio and had her locate my final project (Teaching Children One Note at a Time).  She successfully did this. She read the opening page and tried clicking on the links but found that they were not working properly.  She saw only a limited view of the website rather than it’s entirety.

Summary of Post-test Interview:

She liked the picture of the three violinists (children).  She found a small grammatical error.  She liked the welcome statement and found it easy to read.  She liked the clear links right below the banner and was easy to see.  She found a couple of pages that were not working yet. She likes the look of the home page and found it uncluttered. She asked about a payment/prices page and found that parents would want to see this information.  She found that the site was appealing and simple.  She liked the colors as it highlighted and brought out the muted colors in the picture.  She also suggested that I center the website.  The home page was aligned to the left.

Findings to be Implemented:

As a result of the Alpha test, I will make the following changes:
