WELCOME TO THE NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL WEBSITE OF SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY!
The National Pan-Hellenic Council at San Diego State University is the governing body for the nine historically African American Greek organizations. Seven of these organizations are currently affiliated with Greek Life at SDSU.
The purpose of NPHC is to unify the historically African American fraternities and sororities and emphasize community service, academics, leadership development and collaboration. Being a member of one of these fraternities or sororities is a great way to get involved and make a positive impact on the entire Aztec community.
The council is based at San Diego State University but the affiliated chapters are city wide.
What
is Membership Intake?
Membership Intake is the process of selecting, educating and initiating new
members into an NPHC chapter. This process is prescribed by the National organization.
I
want to "rush" an NPHC group. What do I do?
NPHC groups do not recruit in the same ways as the other Greek counicls do.
NPHC groups typically have intake in the spring semester. To be eligible
for intake, you have to have anywhere from 12 to 36 hours of completed coursework.
Specific requirements vary from organization to organization. Check out their
websites, both local and national for more specific information.
Spend the fall semester researching the various NPHC organizations. Most will have tables on campus during the first few months of school. Many organizations will also have informational meetings during this time, enabling you to learn more about all of the organizations. Look for posters publicizing their events in all of the campus residence halls and in the Centers for Student Involvement.
