Minimum Workstation Standards Zip Drives
![]()
The 750 MB Iomega ZIP drive should now be considered the entry-level device. An external 750 MB ZIP drive using USB 2.0 is recommended. Please note the following:
Additional Comments
- 100 MB ZIP disks can be used in the 250 MB drive.
- 100 MB ZIP disks formatted and modified can still be readable in ZIP drives that support larger capacities.
- 250 MB ZIP disks cannot be read in the older 100 MB ZIP drive.
- All Zip disks can be read by the 750 MB drive, however, only the 250 & 750 MB Zip disks can be written to by this drive.
ZIP disks should not be used for a long-term backup solution. They should be used for transferring data from one machine to another. They are not a reliable backup medium. CD or DVD disks are the recommended medium for long-term backup storage.
