Meeting in LL-431 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, Chair
The phone form that Felecia presented at the Security meeting will be up on the Security website soon. Be sure to record your pertinent info in case of theft or loss of your phone. This information will aid police in the recovery/return of any smart phone, tablet/ipad, laptop (mobile device).
SPSS and SASCelia needs to extend the expiration date of SPSS before releasing V21 in December. It is almost ready to release. The output of this version is very friendly when exporting to MS Excel. It was noted that AMOS installation need a specific version of MS Framework and that version is only on the media from Celia.
SAS 9.3 has a problem with both the 32 bit and 64 bit on 64 bit hardware that is currently being investigated. Problem is with Java. Delete all Java from computer, install SAS V9.3 and then update Java.
Microsoft Win8 PresentationIt was noted that the video that Scott Horvath sent out on MS Windows 8 did a better job of explaining the product than the recent Microsoft presentation.
Microsoft Windows Server 2012
Many departments are considering using MS Windows Server 2012 Datacenter version. At a cost of just under $890, you can have unlimited virtual servers. However after reading installation instruction, you also need a Client Access License. Celia announced that this license is included at no additional charge.ITS Update
ITS is re-organizing and shifted people. Now the Blackboard Manager is Manny G., while Rick Bahken is supervising Special Events/Media Production (includes the Video & Graphics groups), and Rudy A. is supervising Learning Spaces (includes Smart Classrooms, Faculty Help, and Checkout Counter). ITS is busy identifying Winter Break projects.Status.sdsu.edu
Some discussion was had on the success of status.sdsu.edu website. It was noted that Blackboard status was missing from the website. A suggestion was made that ITS begin using this resource to post Blackboard's status. Another was their Help Desk phone number and Blackboard status needs to be posted at SCC.
Next MWSSLS meeting will be December 20, 2012.
