Diana Osborn, ChairITS Update
- SS-2260 is being converted to a smart classroom and should be completed by the end of the semester.
- AH-1120 (Learning Research Studio B) has now been renovated.
- Blackboard is being upgraded to 9.1, which will be rolled out in January for the Spring 2012 semester. Users can test the new version next week.
Milestone Assessment
The review of five milestone item implementations will be starting soon. The IT Security Office will be sending an email within the next week to the IT managers and sysadmin mailing lists requesting copies of ePO or other anti-virus/anti-spyware solutions (process and sample reports). In addition to reviewing documentation, the IT Security Office will schedule appointments with selected areas to assess the server/client and report configurations.Academic Affairs Update
The AELP program will not be renewed. The current AELP covers Mac Operating Systems through LION with iLife and iWorks programs included. SDSU will probably be going to a maintenance only agreement.SDSU has 450 extra Apple software upgrade licenses for Lion, iLife and iWorks. John Ross will be emailing IT leads to let Celia Putnam know which departments if any will need the extra licenses.
Software Renewal Update
- SAS is currently running on version 9.2. It was re-engineered because it was too difficult to install. Because of this, there is currently no Tech Support for 9.2. Celia Putnam is now working on version 9.3, which will have Tech Support. She will notify all when the software is released to the campus and is available for checkout from the ETS HelpDesk.
- SPSS is now owned by IBM, who will only support the latest two versions. Our current version is 20, so only versions 19 and 20 are supported.
- Deepfreeze for Mac, version 5 is compatible with LION.
- Minitab V16 is good until June 30, 2012.
- McAfee is good until October 29, 2013.
- X-Win32 is an unlimited download license from ROHAN. The ETS Help Desk will provide the download link. Users should be sure to delete the older versions.
