CATS Conference
The virtual online CATS conference will be May 6th through 8th. Some of the presentations will be set up in smart classrooms to allow for group interaction.  These presentations can also be viewed in individual offices.  There will be two live presentations on campus that are not on the CATS agenda regarding accessibility and instructional materials.  An email notification will be sent out providing the specific locations and times.  For more information, the CATS Conference webpage be found at http://cats.cdl.edu/online_2009.

SPSS
SPSS 16.0.2 Mac has text rendering problems due to the release of Java updates. SPSS 17.0.2 Mac is the latest and will only run on Intel Macs. Celia is checking to see if the most recent update has fixed this problem. Patch 17.0.2 is a large update and renames some of the products to begin with PASW.  SPSS 17.0.2 only runs on Intel Macs. Non Intel Macs and need to use version 16.

Apple
The volume license purchase of licenses & maintenance for iLife and iWorks is now complete.  If you did not purchase maintenance, you must purchase it within 30 days at the regular price through Heather in the Bookstore.  Please notify Celia if maintenance is purchased.  Some users still need to pick up their media from Celia.

Apple is having an Institutional Computer Sale for departments and auxiliaries.  Personal use equipment is not included in this sale. The sale goes through May 29th.

Webpages
Links to software licensing on the UCO website now link directly to the updated site licensing pages on the MWSSLS web site.

Camtasia
The possibility of purchasing a site license for Camtasia was addressed by ITS.  Anyone interested in purchasing Camtasia should send the number of copies desired to Jim Edwards in ITS.

Antivirus/Antispyware/Counterspy
A committee needs to be established to look at antivirus and antispyware software. The committee should determine what products are currently available and if there is enough incentive to change software or recommend remaining with McAfee. Suites which come with both antivirus and antispyware should be considered. PC’s, Macs, Linux and Solaris machines all utilize this software, however, the focus should be on PC’s and Macs.  Email Diana Osborn if you’re interested in being on this committee.

The Counter Spy contract is up in October with the antivirus and antispyware contracts being up the following October.  Counter Spy could be renewed for 17 cents a copy for another year, making all products on the same timetable.

NotifyLink
NotifyLink is ready.  We’re waiting on the completion of setting up the Chargeback.

Survey Monkey
If anyone is interested in purchasing Survey Monkey, please contact Rofiee Harun with the # of copies desired.  He will bring the information back to the next MWSSLS meeting.  Rofiee will also check if Survey Monkey is 508 compliant.

Next meeting will be May 21, 2009.
