Minimum Workstation and Software Site License Subcommittee Minutes

Meeting Maker Upgrade
Meeting Maker 8.7.1 is finally available.  Testing will take place in UCO and the client and web will be rolled out in early July.  Phase two will be the Notify link and Phase 3 will be ldap.

Patch Management
Academic Affairs has purchased PatchLink, patch management software, effective July 1, 2008. Departments/Colleges will need their own patch management servers.  Academic Affairs has purchased one testing server that Diana Osborn will manage.  It will be used for the College of Sciences and will serve as a template for PatchLink.  IT staff will be able to check out the server before they do their own installation.  Diana will coordinate  a meeting of interested people to demonstrate the pilot when it’s ready.

Minitab
The Minitab license has been renewed and continues to be an unlimited license.

MatLab 2008A
MatLab 2008a has been installed on ROHAN.  A few problems are being addressed on the Windows side.  Earlier MatLab versions, nothing older than Version 13, will remain on ROHAN for users wishing to continue running older versions.

Maple 12
Maple 12 has been installed on ROHAN.

Acrobat Professional
The Chancellor’s Office will not be looking at purchasing an Acrobat Professional  license until after the start of the new fiscal year.  If you haven’t already done so, send Diana area numbers on Acrobat Professional;  what you currently have and what you want to get.  Be sure to break out the number you have as part of a CS3 suite.

Minimum Workstation Standards
Equipment request lists are going out and the Minimum workstations standards on the MWSSLS website need updating.  The current standards are as of April, 2007.

Miscellaneous
Service Pack 2 for Office has a plug-in that creates PDF’s through Microsoft Office software.

Cute PDF is a free product for Windows which creates pdf’s.  These are print PDFs so you may still need additional software to create accessible PDFS for web presences.

Firefox 3.0 is now available.  3.1 will be coming out in July.
