The first Chancellor's office deadline for webpage accessibility is May 15th. Fifteen websites have been selected to do the manual check and remediation by that date. The top 60 websites for SDSU have been identified along with their contact info. These websites can be found at http://access.sdsu.edu/rpts. The 15 websites slated for "manual checks" have been identified on this website. An email will be sent out letting approvers and contacts know they have a webpage on this site that requires attention.A training on the manual checks will be held on Thursday, April 26th from 10-3 in LL-260. The 1st part of the training will include an "Accessibility 101" covering basic accessibility issues, and the remainder of the class will be hands on training of the "manual checks" process.
There is still more training available on the HiSoftware overview. Contact Cyndi Chie if interested. The next training is scheduled for April 26th from 9 am - noon.
Calendar Committee
CATS Update
The Calendar Committee had an RFP meeting with vendors on Tuesday. The vendors now have due dates in which to return RFPs to SDSU.
The CATS Conference took place recently and was very good. The 5 staff members who attended the conference will be putting on an overview of the sessions attended for all those who are interested. The keynote sessions are archived on the CATS website. End Note
This topic was tabled as there have been no updates.Vista
The bookstore now has media for Office 2007 and Vista. Vista will not be available for purchase to faculty, staff and students until it has been approved to be deployed on campus. The bookstore will continue to offer Office 2003 and Office 2007.Celia Chavez now has media and keys for Vista Ultimate. If individual colleges would like to test Vista Ultimate, contact her at cchavez@mail.sdsu.edu. All Vista software is for testing only. No one should have this software deployed for production.
There will be a live webinar on the VLK Server and MAK on May 3rd. Please contact Celia Chavez for information on the webinar as pre-registration is required. A suggestion was made that MWSSLS give Bob Newhouse a recommendation to take to the IT Managers that the licensing key server issue needs to be discussed. This topic will be on the agenda for the next meeting.
When new equipment purchases are made on campus, faculty/staff need to make sure that they either purchase machines with XP installed that are upgradable to Vista, or, if Vista is installed, that the machine can be downgraded to XP.
Chancellor's Office Survey
Carol Tohsaku announced that the Chancellor's Office annual IT survey will be coming out soon and she will be sending out info to the Deans. She will also send out the same announcement to the MWSSLS mailing list.Miscellaneous
BATS instructors are working on Office 2007 training and hope to offer this training next Fall.It was mentioned that Lynda.com has tutorials (not free) on Web development and Web development software.
It was mentioned that VISTA training from an outside vendor for the technical staff would be of great benefit before the general deployment of VISTA.
