Minimum Workstation and Software Site License Subcommittee Minutes

----------------------------------------------------------------------

September 21, 2006
Meeting in AH-1120 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, Chair

MEETING MAKER
Due to loss of names in the recent upgrade, Diana will have to re-invite people for the MWSSLS meeting.

ENDNOTE
Currently, we are waiting on the company for information on licenses they have recorded. Colleges of Arts & Letters, Sciences, and Health & Human Services are interested, but Diana needs number of licenses required. Looking at both site license and volume purchase pricing.

DEEP FREEZE
Diana needs ending dates from all areas who currently have Deep Freeze in order to consolidate a site license renewal. Engineering is interested in Anti-executable, another Faronics product. Anyone else having an interest should contact Diana.

MAC OS
Celia stated that AMP, the 3 year licensing of the MAC OS, ended on 9/16/06 and the campus renewed the same number of licenses for this 06/07 fiscal year. Leopard is a possible release for Spring 07, but not a guarantee.

SPSS
License codes are here. Email Celia, if you need codes for your installations. However, no codes available for any Intel MAC installations. Apple is trying to fix ROSETTA to allow SPSS; hopefully by March 07. Those interested in complex samples will need to buy them direct from SPSS, per Celia.

SAS
SAS 9.13 codes are here today. Email Celia, if you need codes for your installations.

MCAFEE
The renewing of antivirus software with McAfee is in process with 4 days of training on EPO (hands-on with everything). Merka, Darrell, Felicia, Celia, and Bob Hilchey will work on re-pursuing the McAfee training that was left unbfinished. Hopefully there will be a beginning and advance session.

SPYWARE
The spyware decision is coming soon; working on getting pricing now. There will be a chargeback to departments.

HYPERRESEACH
No update on this software.

ADOBE TECHNOLOGY DAYS
September 28th and 29th is scheduled for Adobe sponsored workshops, but no announcement has been released. Carol Tosahku is on vacation. Location maybe the Experimental classroom in AH and the BATS classrooms in LL. Topics will include the Creative Suite and Web development products.

MISCELLANEOUS
Accessibility Training will be held at Long Beach on September 28th and 29th; $200 each.

Software Survey is due in October.

Minimum Workstation Committee needs to reconvene soon.

Next MWSSLS meeting will be on October 19, 2006 at 10 a.m. in AH-1120.
