Meeting in AH-1120 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, ChairAnti-Spyware Committtee
Felecia Vlahos announced that the final vendors meeting our requirements are: SunBelt Software (Counter Spy), McAfee (VirusScan, Virex), and SurfControl (Enterprise Threat Shield). Each vendor will be asked to demonstrate their product. April 5th (10-11:30 am) is the date for the demos. Afterwards 5 campus testers will kick the tires on the products and provide the committee with a ranking of the products.Felicia mentioned that 900 viruses were recorded last month specifically designed to target Instant Messaging. The current thinking is that it will require a business need before SDSU will create campus infrastructure for Instant Messaging to happen.
Patch Management Committtee
Diana Osborn stated the vendors meeting our requirements are: Landesk, Novell Zenworks, and Altiris Patch Solution. The demonstrations have been done. Testing is pending the vendor's new releases. Because of our campus Novell License, we have a 90 day test on Zenworks.Web Site Change
It was announced that the Faculty/Staff Helpdesk web pages had changed URL location and was causing dead links at other sites. The MWSSLS page is fixed. Diana will ask ITS to announce it and setup a re-direct to the new URL - http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/~facstaff/ZoomText Update

It was mentioned that the CATS mail list had a lot of chatter about RefWorks. It is web-based and integrates with products for learning management systems. EndNote is being used by many on campus; though there are some recent issues with the Mac version. Diana will inquire of the bookstore what quantity of EndNote was purchased in the last two years to assist in gauging interest. It was discussed to have Qualitative Stat packages added to the Software Survey (Example - Nudist (PC/Mac versions). Also the following were mentioned as candidates for the survey as Flexible Nonrestrictive Disk Protection packages: Clean Slate (PC version), and Deep Freeze (PC/Mac versions) - all preserve the exact original standard system configuration. Diana will also check to see if AltirisVision is on the survey.CATS Conference
