Meeting in ENS292 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, ChairZoomText
Mary Shojai, John Ross, and Cyndi Chie met to consider a campus site license for ZoomText, as Windows XP's options do not provide equivalent access. For example - Windows XP does not enlarge buttons to the same degree. A decision to go with a campus site license would benefit faculty and staff, as well as students in more departments. John Ross has indicated that Academic Affairs would buy the product and then chargeback to the participating departments. He is working out the details with the Vice Presidents. Severino Reyes will be joining the committee. A site license versus volume purchasing will be considered.NewHorizons Training vouchers
Greta Borie of NewHorizons contacted SDSU to see what interest there is to purchase a 100 or more training coupons. If you are interested in a consolidated purchase of coupons, please send an email to Diana Osborn. Diana will also check with Vortex to see what training is available.SPSS license codes
Celia Chavez announced that the SPSS license codes were distributed yesterday to the college contacts. These new codes now turn on all of the optional features that SDSU has paid for. Most of the SPSS versions in use have a 90 day grace period to renew the license code with the exception of Windows v13 which is 30 days. Celia has complained about a different grace periods to the vendor and the Chancellor's Office. A question posed - Could we move the dates for the codes to coinside better with the start of semester? Celia will look into this. It was mentioned that Michael Paschke has a script for installing the license in a lab environment. When version 14 arrives later this fall, there will be testing done on it. If it proves to be no better than version 13, we may not go to it.
AMP program
Celia Chavez stated that the number of computers on the AMP program increased from 1102 to 1583. She also said Apple points to SDSU as a success story for keeping on top of licenses.
