Meeting in AH-1120 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, ChairMinimum Workstation Specifications
The minimum workstation standards are now updated and on the web at http://rohan.sdsu.edu/~mwssls/mws.htmlEPO Training Update
Celia Chavez did not receive any responses on the best time to have EPO training. Celia is now out for a month. This will be tabled until her return.Software Codes
Celia sent out the codes for all versions of SAS and SPSS to her list of contacts in each department.Bob Hilchey has codes for Adobe and Microsoft software. Call him at 44881 for codes. Proof of purchase must be available.
Please forward all site license questions to TNS or Bob Newhouse until Celia returns.
Softricity
A summary of Softricity was passed around at the meeting. Softricity is a virtual application similar to Zen. It packages up programs and pushes them to the desktop. The difference between Zen and Softricity is that Softricity reads the reg entries from the server and does not install them on the machine. If there is interest in this product, the vendor can come do a presentation/demo of their software. The advantage of Softricity is that because it runs in virtual space, it reduces software package conflicts. Contact Diana Osborn before the end of the month if you are interested, otherwise the vendor will be told there is no interest at this time.Zoomtext
There is still no decision on Zoomtext. Because the cost is high, the campus may purchase a certain amount of licenses and each lab may get a few copies. John Ross should have an updated on Zoomtext by the next IACC meeting.Training Vouchers
Diana Osborn gave information on training from New Horizons, Vortex, and the Community Colleges.Diana Osborn will send out the link to all three training options so that course offerings can be perused. The committee can then make a decision as to the purchase of training vouchers.
- New Horizons has a standard price per class day, (i.e., Level 1 class = $299/day, High Level = $539/day). Based on the number of vouchers purchased by the campus, the price per class day is discounted. New Horizons URL is:
http://www.newhorizons.com/content/centerSearchResults.aspx?&zipcode=92182&SiteId=
Then choose view class schedule.- Vortex has a set dollar amount for each class (i.e. a 4-day XP Operating System class is $1,275). Based on the number of vouchers purchased by the campus, the price of the class is discounted. Vortex URL is:
http://www.vortexdata.com/coursecatalog.htm- Community colleges offer free continuing education classes, however, they are generally a semester long and may be 1 or 2 days per week. There are 5 or 6 locations around the county.
San Diego Community College Continuing Education URL is:
http://www.sdce.edu/
Then choose class schedule.Software Survey Database
A reminder was given to submit data to the software survey. A software snapshot was to be made in October, however, lack of sufficient data has delayed it.Web Committee Web Cast
About 11 staff attended a web cast of High Software. This software is related to accessibility and validation of web sites. Cost will be obtained based on an SDSU campus purchase only, and the cost if other campuses join in the purchase. There will be a demonstration of the Watch Fire Suite on December 2nd from 1-3 pm in AH-1120 for anyone who would like to attend. In addition to accessibility and validation, Watch Fire includes a broader spectrum of products include security modules and web administration tools. Cyndi Chie will send out an invitation to this demo to the mailing lists as well as the web site URL.
