Meeting in AH-1120 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, ChairSt. Bernard
Diana stated the server has been stable with only an occassional restart. It was noted that 30% of the Windows XP machines' new installs don't show up on the console. However, most will do so after a reinstall. She hasn't seen the problem with the Windows 2000 machines. Having the firewall on or off doesn't seem to be the issue, since the problem occurs in that number on both. John Pastori has one (Win XP) that won't show up even after a reinstall. The next revision will see St. Bernard's Tech Support on site. It will have a standard set of patches defined for a workstation set. The new version should also allow us to customize the console per user, where currently any setting changes affect all users of the console.McAfee Update
As of February 24th, McAfee has been issuing daily dats. ROHAN has been picking them up every 2 hours, since September 2004.Peter Ryan announced that Merka Phoenix has obtained traning space in Extended Studies for the McAfee Training. 15-17 people have requested the training so far. The training is scheduled for Wednesday March 30th and Thursday June 2nd from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Extended Studies -- ESC Room 207. Please be able to commit to both training days.
March 30th, The class will consist of 3 hours of lecture and 1 hour of Q/A with examples from each group's ePO server and clients. It will cover Getting Started, Setup, and Management. To enhance the training, we strongly recommend that the participants have installed a test version of ePO and have some test machines under management. That they bring a laptop which can connect to their ePO server by Remote Desktop. That they have read, or reviewed, the three manuals: ePO Installation Guide, ePO Management Guide, and the McAfee Anti-Virus 8 Guide.
June 2nd The class would consist of 2 hours of lecture and 2 hours of Q/A with examples from each group's ePO server and clients. It would cover Rogue Detection, Compliance, and notification. To enhance training, we strongly recommend that the participants have taken training 1 or have teamed up with someone who did. Same tools and reading material. Special emphasis on Rogue Detection and System Compliance Profiler.
