Meeting in AH-1120 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, Chair

Patch Management Update
It was announce at IACC on 2/9/04 that the St. Bernard purchase order is in the works, along with a PO for a set of servers to be housed in UCO. UCO will handle server hardware responsibilities, while Diana Osborn will handle St. Bernard.

Felecia Vlahos, SDSU Information Security Officer, announced the vulnerability document that she introduced at the IACC meeting. Comments from that meeting and others have now been incorporated into the document. Felecia will forward the revised document to both the IACC and MWSSLS mailing lists. The document speaks to prevention and cleanup guidelines for the protection of all on the network. It is for department consideration to assist them in formalizing their individual policies and procedures concerning vulnerability. John Denune and Felecia are both available to assist department's with the development of their policies and procedures. Felecia can be reached at 44049 or fvlahos@mail.sdsu.edu and found in her office in AD-110A.

Minimum Workstation Update
The Minimum Workstation web pages are in need of update. Diana asked for volunteers to work on new minimum specifications. Greg Martin and Merka Phoenix joined the team to work on the PC specs, but more volunteers would be good. Carol Phillips volunteered to update the Mac specs. The web pages will reflect the work in process shortly.

McAfee Update
Any Faculty/Staff who has loaded the McAfee Home Version on their home computer can do the engine upgrade as needed directly from McAfee's web site, as long as the product has been registered. However, the auto-update feature will only announce a dat's availability, but won't do the auto-download of the dat update.

Diana has the updated versions for Netware and Solaris, but hasn't put them on the ROHAN site yet. The ROHAN dat files are updated every morning. Also, the 7.1 and 7.0 plus Service Pack versions have an Ad Aware feature in the Advanced section that is OFF by default.

Software Survey
Cyndi Chie said they are still working on finding out who covers what areas and need to know any exceptions in the areas each contact does cover. David Oehl stated that the final version of the survey system will have menus to get to any sub-forms required.

Next MWSSLS meeting will be on March 18, 2004 at 1 pm in AH-1120.
