March 20, 2003
Meeting in LL-430 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, Chair

Calendar Committee
Calendar Committee has seen Novell's Groupwise product. Oracle will be next with a demonstration of their Corporate Time (may be renamed in the future). Also, Brent Small (Meeting Maker) has indicated their willingness to demo Meeting Maker.

XP Training
Steve Voelker has received a training proposal from Blue Star Learning. It is for $350 per person (1/3 of the other bids), but they require a 20 person guarantee. All staff interested in technical training on deployment and security issues of Windows XP need to contact, Steve before April 15th. This is needed to guage whether or not we have the required 20 people.

Turnitin
Cyndi Chie said that Judicial Procedures has been alerted to Turnitin's availability. They want training for technical staff, as well as faculty. Carol Tohsaku will be the contact for the training that will emphasize learning how to interpret the report results. Judicial Procedures recommends faculty place on their syllabus just what is plagerism and that classwork will be checked, and results will be turned into Judicial Procedures.

Meeting Maker
Celia Chavez reminded everyone that UCO does not handle any technical support for Meeting Maker. Everyone should use the online source at Meeting Maker to get a quick responce.

Microsoft Server
Celia said the campus existing server information was supplied to the vendor. There is now expected to be a phone conference between the Chancellor's Office and the SDSU departments on March 28th at 10 a.m. in Bob Newhouse's office. This may be repeated in the future. The phone conference is designed to get reoccuring questions answered.

ASAP
According to Celia, the Procurement Card is OK to use, but Divisions or Department must still send their request info to Bob Newhouse (CC: to Celia) first.

Software Survey
Cyndi Chie distributed the latest report of the Software Survey, as all info was now included in the database. Those areas with "no name" are the auxilaries (Foundation, Aztec Shops, etc.). Everyone was asked to look for areas not covered and to identify their contacts, as the report's tallies are still considered under-reported.

SPAM Filtering
SPAM Filtering on the mail server has been a backburner item with TNS. However, Emily Yau announced plans to use Squirrel Mail with SPAM Filtering on the mail server as early as July 1st.

Next MWSSLS meeting will be April 17, 2003 in AH-1120 at 10 a.m.
