February 20, 2003
Meeting in AH-1120 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, Chair

BATS/ITS
Carol Tohsaku announced the Spring 2003 BATS Workshops and the ITS Open House set up March 20th and 21st.

Calendar Committee
Calendar Committee announced their first demonstration with Novell's GroupWise product on February 25th at 1 p.m. in LL-430. So far, no other vendor has responded. Cyndi Chie commented on a Meeting Maker problem about a repeating meeting getting days confused in the client and on the web, if the end of the month falls after the beginning of another week. For example: A meeting on the 1st and 3rd week was changed to the 2nd and 4th week. In seems the meeting that should have been on the last day of the month, gets counted as the 1st day of the next month. After discussion, it was agreed that problems like this should first be sent to mmadmin@mail.sdsu.edu

XP Training
According to Steve Voelker, both Vortex and MicroSkills want to handle the training with a $1000 charge per student. Vortex is still checking to see if they can do it for less ($500). However, repeated attempts to communicate with them has been met with silence. New Horizons is just offering their coupon deal for their regular classes. Discussion was had on the fact that their coupons have an expiration date, but due to a California law the coupons can't expire.

Minimum Workstation Standards Update
Steve Voelker said the new hardware specifications are now on the web.

McAfee AntiVirus Software
Diana announced that the updates for McAfee Corporate Versions of VirusScan Security Suite for Windows and Virex for Mac platforms were were now available on the ROHAN virus website. The Monday through Friday updates for definitions is now working and manuals are now available through a link.

McAfee contacts for Divisions or Departments have been notified by Celia Chavez. However, if media is needed, then the Divisions or Departments will need to supply her with the CD-Rs. Celia made note of legal issues being explored by her on the Network Associates Prime Support. At this point, she does not believe this will be an issue that affects us.

Apple OS Server
Those who need to order Apple OS Server software should order directly through Apple for orginial and upgrades. This would not be a chargeback item like the TAP program per Celia.

SPSS
Celia Chavez mentioned that the SPSS 11.0.1 for Macintosh version is with Cyndi Chie for testing. As soon as it is returned to her, it can be released for usage.

ASAP/Microsoft
For a new procedure, ASAP is planning on a new SDSU login for specific pricing only and no online ordering. Once in effect, Divisions or Departments would send an email to Bob Newhouse (copying Celia Chavez) stating what they want to order from ASAP. Bob Newhouse would then reply with an OK. This would be required before completing the Purchase Order.

Announcements
Macromedia contract is in negotiations.

Software Survey
ITS and Enrollment Services still have not provided their data, so final numbers are still pending.
