Calendar Committee
Meeting in AH-1120 at 10 a.m.
Diana Osborn, Chair
Calendar Committee members met and put together their criteria list. Currently, they are looking for Email responses from the vendors. We will be sending email requests out but that hasn't happened yet (within the next week). They plan to setup demos as they find products that meet the criteria. The committee will be meeting once a month starting in January. Meeting Maker's contract has been extended to October 4, (2004) for 3000 users. Contact Helen Habermann to add additional accounts. MWSSLS is looking into having BATS do training for Meeting Maker.XP Training
Steve Voelker has contacted 3 vendors and has received quotes from Vortex and MicroSkills. New Horizons hasn't responded as yet. He picked out 7 topic areas from their regular training plus a security module and asked for custom classes. Vortex has indicated that it not be a problem to have multiple classes, if a larger than 20 attendees want to take the class.Minimum Workstation Standards Update
The group has met a couple of times. They are discussing DBI on the monitor specs. It was noted that the Chancellor's Office website workstation specs are over a year old. The Apple workstation specs will be upgraded to match the vendor's latest offerings.Apple News
After inquiries, it was found that the OS Server X is not currently covered under the TAP program. However, Apple is exploring this with the Chancellor's Office.McAfee AntiVirus Software
The evaluation done by the committee was very helpful and timely, but according to Celia, there will be a substantial increase in cost to the campus. The price for McAfee would be double what it was last time, if we continued to cover home use and students. To keep the cost down, the new contract will only cover SDSU faculty and staff office equipment. Adjunct faculty will not be included. The old contract ended on 11/20/02 and anyone not covered by the new contract must remove McAfee from his or her computer. The new 2 year contract pricing for the McAfee Corporate Version is $5.88 for the VirusScan Security Suite and $3.92 for Virex for the Mac platforms. Note: Don't look at retail versions of the product as their numbering scheme for versions is different than the corporate version that we use.
The PO has been issued with large area reseller, Configuer, versus Network Associates, so we could get a 2% discount. A list of contacts for the departments has been announced. Note: Susan Mar is the contact for all Academic Affairs departments with John Ross as the contact for the President's Office.
SPSS
Celia Chavez mentioned that the 60 day grace period ended on December 1, 2002. If user's of SPSS have not updated their new license SPSS will no longer function. The new license code for the SPSS for Window version 11.5 is now 29 digits.Software Survey
Collecting and compiling the software survey data is still in process. A few more reports are now in Cyndi's hands.SAS
