Registration Updates

important update iconThe Spring 2012 schedule is now on-line. Please realize that some of the classes you wished for previously may have been canceled or moved to new times. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable in this very dificult time for the University. Also, some classes are now being offered only once per year, instead of every semester; when this is the case, we've made every effort to note it below.

Changes in the Registration Rules

The university has implemented new rules regarding the number of units students can register for during the initial registration period and the number of times a course can be repeated. All of the details are available on the Advising Office's website.

Summer 2012 update

We've just received word that, beginning 2012, SDSU's College of Education will offer their credential program prerequisite classes only through SDSU's College of Extended Studies during the Summer sessions. This change shouldn't affect our students significantly, as the main difference will be the registration and payment mechanisms (through Extended Studies, not the usual SDSU system). Note that this change does not apply to the prerequisite classes during the Fall and Spring (academic year) semesters, which will continue as usual.

Also, while the offerings for LS classes have not yet been finalized, they're likely to be more limited than usual, so now more than ever, saving graduation requirements for Summer and expecting graduate in August is risky.

Here are the Liberal Studies courses we feel are most likely to be offered in Summer 2012. PLEASE NOTE that not all of these classes are required of all Liberal Studies majors, depending on major catalog year; consult your degree evaluation to see what your specific requirements are.

+LS 498 (first session)
+HIST 411 (most likely first session)
+Math 313 (most likely first session)
+CFD 375B (online only)
+THEA 310 (most likely second session)

Check back often for updates.

Spring 2012 updates

SCI 250

SDSU's College of Ed is offering a new course, SCI 250: Informal Learning in Math and Science, that might appeal to many of our students. Click on this link for an informational flyer.

LIB S 498

LIB S 498 class meeting dates and times for the Spring 2012 term are ladi out below. Please note: if you can't attend all of the scheduled workshops, you can't complete the course requirements. So either rearrange any scheduling conflicts or plan on taking the course some other semester.

Section 2: Saturdays 1/21, 2/18, 4/7 from 9:30-11:30am in SSW 1500

HHS 280/TE 280/TE 296 (the Health Ed requirement - DHP-2)

The Health Ed class will be offered in the Spring 2012 semester (and probably only in the Spring for the foreseeable future). So unless you want to take an equivalent at a JC this Summer or Fall, you should take it in the Spring. [See below for information regarding how this course number has changed over the years.] PLEASE NOTE: PH 101 is not an appropriate class for this requirement, even if your degree evaluation presents it as a possible choice.

In the Spring 2012 semester, TE 280 will meet on Saturday, February 4, from 9 am - 12 pm

TE 170/CFD 170 (the lower division human development requirement - DHP-3)

This class will likely be offered only in the Fall semester for the foreseeable future, so please plan accordingly.

Specialization updates

*For the Science specialization, GEOL 412 will only be offered in the morning for the foreseeable future, so please plan accordingly.

*For the Math specialization, Math 413 is likely to be offerred only in the Spring semester for foreseeable future, so please plan accordingly.

* For the PE specialization, ENS 398 is unlikely to ever be offered again. Therefore, it will be waived for students in the PE specialization (unless they've already taken it). Also, the ENS department isn't offering ENS 348 as often as it used to. If it's offered, take it (don't wait).

* For the Social Science specialization, HIST 445 will not be offered in the Spring 2012 semester, but it will be offered in the both the Summer and the Fall 2012 semesters. Look for it then.
