Brief Profile of Users

Three users were selected for the test.  One of the users was a parent who has a child but not at the school.  The second user was an educator who is also one of my colleagues at Balboa.  The third user was a college student who had little knowledge of the school but seems very comfortable with using the internet to get information,

Think Aloud Task:

Each user was asked to locate information to answer some questions:

1)            Where can you find out information about a teacher or grade level?

2)            What are our school office hours?

3)            What three things do you need to tell the office about why your child is absent?

4)            Where can you find links for educational websites?

Summary of Think Aloud:

All of the test users located the information for the questions fairly easily.  The only question that one tester had trouble with was the attendance.  The one tester had gone to the Ôabout usÕ page first instead of going to the ÔstudentÕ page.

Summary of Post-test Interview:

á      Two of the testers suggested adding more photos to each page

á      One suggested having the front office information located somewhere that would be easy for the browser to see and connect to

á      All suggested putting a picture or link to a site where they browser can map quest their journey to Balboa.

á      All suggested linking the separate page for each section back to the main page of that specific page.

á       Two testers suggested making some of the font on each page bigger.

Findings to be Implemented:

á      Adding more photos and images to each page

á      Adding the main office information either under the contact us section or on the main home page

á      Linking the subsections of each page back to the main page of that particular section

Findings that will not be Implemented:

á      Adding a map or link with directions to the school.

á      Increasing the font size on each page.  Several attempts were made to make the font bigger, but since some sections where linked together to have the same font size, it made it difficult to make a certain section bigger.
