6. Objectives:

            1) To provide an international forum for Kinanthropometry

            2) To foster development of instrumentation and technology.

            3) To contribute to the development of a body of knowledge in

                        Kinanthropometry.

            4) To plan, organize, sponsor and participate in certification courses, & symposia.

            5) To support dissemination of scientific reports & designate archival procedures.

7. Activities:

The most important current activity is the promotion and implementation of the ISAK Anthropometry Accreditation Scheme, a four-level certification program. Successful courses have been conducted in many countries. Several of our members have been invited as instructors in national courses and workshops.

8. Research:

ISAK is not presently sponsoring any research. Several of our officers and members have been involved in recent international kinanthropometric projects, such as those at the World Aquatic Championships in Perth, Australia, the South American Soccer Championships in Montevideo, Uruguay, the Sydney Olympic Games, and the All Africa Games in Zimbabwe, and in Nigeria (2003). ISAK provides support through the expertise of its members.

9. Future Directions:

We expect that our members will continue to be involved internationally in working with colleagues from several allied disciplines in various endeavors. The certification program in anthropometry, has expanded to many parts of the world, especially Latin America, Africa and Asia. Moves are underway to establish archive sites for anthropometric, body composition, growth and performance data from various studies around the world. Data banks of recent large-scale testing are being accumulated by members, notably in Australia.

Standards and Instrumentation; 2. Scholarship, Awards and Curriculum; 3. Publications and Information Exchange; 4. Health, Nutrition and Lifestyle Enhancement; 5. Biosteriometrics and Medical Imaging; 6. Computer Science and Applications; 7. Physical Activity Sciences; and 8. Ways and Means.
