I was a 2007 pICT fellow involved in the Course Redesign Institute at San Diego State University. Together with colleagues from my department and input from the great faculty at SDSU and the wonderful folks at the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Instructional Technology Services, I am in the process of (continually) redesigning our COMM 103 Oral Communication Course.
Using a classroom response system ("clickers") and more closely integrating Blackboard into our course, I hope to prompt already tech-savvy students to think more critically about the uses of media in the classroom and in their everyday lives. I also want to promote more connection and collaboration among students and our teachers of the basic course through the use of media.
You can view the presentation of this project here.
You can also check out a news story about my use of social media (Facebook and Twitter) in the classroom here.
