CSU Kinesiology Major

Upper Division Competency #12:

demonstrate ability to integrate mulitidisciplinary knowledge bases of Kinesiology in an applied, problem solving context

Students participate in a Senior Project in the community. community service project under the direction of a faculty advisor
Students uses knowledge base in appropriate field setting. supervisor documents appropriate application of knowledge in field setting
Students develop and carry out an experiment that examines a physical activity question from an integrative perspective. develop a final poster that is presented at the Human Movement Expo.
Students conduct a validity study that involves the development of objectives, construction of measuring instruments, administration to a group of participants, determine validity, estimate reliability, calculate norms and standards, evaluate measuring instruments and recommend specific changes.
K157 (Adapted and Inclusive Physical Education) Assess present levels of performance exhibited in an individual with a disability, establish appropriate goals and objectives, develop an I.E.P., implement the I.E.P., evaluate progress of a client. (Standard 6,9 ), Demonstrate several strategies for incl
Lab activities and out-of-class written assignments in Kines 116 (Fundamental of Biomechanics), 118 (Fundamentals of Exercise Physiology), 160 (Applied Biomechanics), 161 (Applied Exercise Physiology), 163 (Fitness & Wellness), and 165 (Performance-Relate Traditional evaluation of lab reports and out-of-class assignments
Students compelte case studies, scenarios, and problem-based learning assignments. Evaluated based on pre-determined check list for profeciency in reported findings
Students integrate multidisciplinary knowledge bases of Kinesiology in aquatics (126). Test on hydrodynamics
Students prepare extensive personal portfolios. presents portfolio for evaluation by faculty
writes personal philosophical and personal goals statement for portfolio
Students present case studies to determine multidisciplinary knowledge bases of kinesiology in an applied, problem-solving context
Students participate in panel discussions to determine multidisciplinary knowledge bases of kinesiology in an applied, problem-solving context
term project instructor evaluation of written report
Students observe and describe to group members and the instructor proper biomechanical analysis in basic movement patterns through use of video in an applied, problem-solving environment
Students analyze and describe proper training techniques to group members and the instructor through use of video analysis.
Students learn and use math, writing, geography, and research skills for outdoor education.
Students utilize knowledge obtained in other PETE classes to design lessons with children. An observation scale designed around effective teaching principles is used for a "self-reflection"' paper (to be submitted to the instructor).
Students are exposed to the arts as it relates to dance as described in the Visual & Performing Arts State Framework (UPPA). Drama, music, dance and visual arts are incorporated in this course. Students are required to combine these in required dance unit plans. Assessed by the instructor.
Students write lesson plans and unit plans for high school students that are developed appropriately and include concepts of motor learning and exercise physiology.
Students use problem solving to correct swimming strokes.
