Graduation Competency 7

All students completing the upper division Kinesiology degree program should:

know how to apply kinesiological knowledge to enhance motor skill and fitness in a variety of populations and conditions.

 Objectives

 Outcomes

Example  1 Develop motor skill and fitness interventions: structured learning sequence; systematic resistance training program; systematic rehabilitation plan; personal goal setting plan for skill or fitness development; mental skill training program. Assess current levels of fitness and motor skill, perform qualitative and quantitative analyses, administer fitness and psychological assessments, identification of critical features of movement and the ability to construct, administer, and evaluate measures.
Example  2 Conduct task analysis of motor skill including: modification for various levels of fitness, skill performance, and environmental conditions. Assess current levels of fitness and motor skill, perform qualitative and quantitative analyses, administer fitness and psychological assessments, identification of critical features of movement and the ability to construct, administer, and evaluate measures.
Example  3 Demonstrate motor skill and fitness acquisition through coursework activities and lab. Assess current levels of fitness and motor skill to perform a qualitative/quantitative analyses, fitness and psychological assessments, identification of critical features of a movement, and construct, administer, and evaluate measuring instruments.

 Objectives

 Outcomes

1 Students use developmentally appropriate strategies for enhancing motor skill. Oral and written reports, records, and supervisor observations.
2 Students use developmentally appropriate strategies for enhancing fitness. Oral and written reports, records, and supervisor observations.
3 Students apply theory to practice through laboratory experiences, co-curricular activities, senior projects, practia, micro-teaching, tutorials, and internships. Reports, lesson plans, journals, and supervisor observations.
4 Students respond to case studies that require the integration of the knowledge within kinesiology to motor skill and fitness development. Reflective essay, action plan, oral and written reports.
5 Students design developmentally appropriate programs for various groups to develop motor skill and fitness. Curriculum plans and exercise prescriptions.
6 Develop task analysis of motor skill including modifications for various levels of fitness, skill performance and environmental co
