During our trips to the Baja California peninsula, we camp in the desert and on the beach near our study sites. Most of our camp sites are chosen based on their proximity to beaches where we can launch inflatable boats (although their splendid beauty weighs heavily in the site selection).

Our lab supplies all the necessary camping equipment including stoves, lanterns, ice chests, tables, tools, propane, kitchen and cookware, water, food and incidentals. All we ask is that students bring clothes, sleeping gear, personal supplies, a "special treat" that is to be shared with the rest of the group, and a good Baja attitude. Oh...and a comfortable chair is a must.

In addition to research responsibilities, members of the expeditions are expected to help out with cooking, cleaning, setting up and breaking down camp and assisting their fellow students.
