Welcome to the Baja Expedition

The Marine Plant Ecology Lab at SDSU does extensive work in Baja California, México.  We have been studying the ecology of giant kelp forests from the US-México boarder to their southern range limit at Punta San Hipólito, BCS.  After more than a decade of working at some of the most beautiful areas of the peninsula, one thing for certain can be said, the greatest challenge does not lie at the destination, but in the journey there.  The page will take you on some of our expeditions and introduce you to some of the almost 100 undergraduate and graduate students that have accompanied us on these trips.

Please feel free to view pictures from our past research trips. We have compiled a collection of photos that chronicle these trips and show our many study locations that we revisit each year. If you were a member on one of these excursions and would like to add some photos to the list, please email them to Dr. Edwards using the subject line "Baja photos".
