11/5/99- I have decided to run a marathon.  The reality is starting to hit.  Now my job is to train hard and raise money for the Leukemia Society.

11/7/99- Jason and I went shopping and spent lots of money on cool new running shoes.

11/8/99- I volunteered for a couple of hours at the local chapter today.  Everybody there is really friendly and very encouraging.

11/13/99- We had our first official training session.  I had the chance to meet Marco my honored teammate.  He is a great kid.  We ran 9 miles today.  Wow! I was in bed by 8:30 because I was so tired.

11/20/99- The official training session went well.  We ran 8 miles and had a class on buying proper running shoes.

11/24/99- Yippee!!!  I am starting to hear back from everybody.  Thank you for the sponsorships.  I did some volunteer work yesterday and got some more inspiration.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

December
12/07/99 - Ok, I know I have been lame because I haven't been updating my web page very much.  I thought I better do that today.  Jason and I have been training really hard.  Don and Mary Lenehan donated a weight set to us so we can get our tired muscles into shape.  We have run 10 miles for our long run a couple of weeks in a row now.  (Actually Jason has done a 12 mile run.)  I realize we aren't even to the half way point but 10 miles is a lot further then either of us could run a month ago.  We are going to Minnesota this weekend so our long distance run will be a cold one.

The fundraising is going great.  Your support is fantastic.  Don't stop now though.  I still have $2200 to go.  I will be having a bake sale next week and I hope to start selling pastries and coffee at the golf course soon for those early morning die hards. If you have any fundraising tips, let me know.  I can use all the help I can get.  Thank You.

12/24/99 - While we were in Minnesota we went for a 10 mile run in 15 degree weather.  Brrrrr.  I was glad to get back to San Diego and start training in the warm weather again.  See the frost on our caps in the picture. When we got back I got the flu and training came to a halt.  Now I am running but only short distances.  Hopefully I can recover quickly. Merry Christmas!

01/10/00 - I hope everybody had a good new year.  I am getting closer and closer to my fundraising goal.  We had a pot luck this past weekend where I got to spend time with my honored teammate Marco and his mother.  He is a great kid and reminds me of my younger brother.  Next weekend is the San Diego Half Marathon.  It is a dress rehearsal for the final event.  It should be fun.
01/15/00 - We survived the San Diego Half Marathon.  Both Jason and I did better then we thought we could do.  We finished under 2 hours and are looking forward to improving on our time.
02/14/00 - Happy Valentines Day!!  This past weekend was quite an adventure.  On Saturday we did our 18 mile run.  We took the train from Solana Beach to Oceanside and then ran back.  It was a beautiful run and has truely set the stage for the marathon. On Sunday we had a garage sale to raise money for the Leukemia Society.  It was a success. We have finally reached our fundraising goal.  Thank you to all the people who has helped make it happen.  Now it's on to Maui for the final event.
