  1. Go to MMHS website (http://www.mountmiguelhs.org)
  2. Click on ÒTeachers.Ó
  3. Click on Ms. JohnsonÕs name
  4. Click on Òvisit websiteÓ
  5. Under ÒAssignmentsÓ, click on ÒCollege PrepÓ
  6. Look next to ÒTuesdayÓ.  Follow the link to the ÒOn this DayÓ webpage.
  7. Then, select your birth date.  Browse events that happened on the same date you were born (does not have to be the same year).

List 3 most interesting events here:

  1. ________________________________________________________
  2. ________________________________________________________
  3. ________________________________________________________

Select one as the most likely subject for your research.  Put a star nest to the number of your selection.

Now, begin research.

To begin, go to wikipedia.org  or ask.com. Browse articles to get an overview.  Select the best credible article to use as one of your main sources.  Ideally, the article is clearly written, and neither too long nor too short.

Got it?

Okay, now write down the necessary information for your article.  This information will be necessary for your Works Cited list:

(where info is unavailable, such as an authorÕs name, write ÒN/AÓ

url:  http://_______________________________________________________________

author: _________________________________________________

title of article:___________________________________________

title of website:__________________________________________

date of material:_________________________________________

database name (wikipedia.org or ask.com, etcÉ)___________________

date of access: (todayÕs date)___________________________________

Now, begin your notes on Cornell note sheets.  On the left hand side, create questions to organize your info.

  1. Who was involved?
  2. What happened?
  3. When? (what year)
  4. Where?
  5. Why is this event significant?

On the right hand side, PARAPHRASE information from the article.  DO NOT COPY

Notes should be completed (minimum front and back of page, with reflection) on Wednesday 1/7.
