Highlights:
After Cheerios for breakfast (yay for soy milk!), we spend the morning
doing paperwork, hanging out and waiting for our interviews with Jeff and
Matt. After a lunch of sandwiches (yay for deli meat!), watermelon
and cookies, we organize gear for de-issue and take it all over to the warehouse.
Then more interviews and, finally, bucket baths! Clean and refreshed
(relatively speaking), we hang out while the instructors start preparing
dinner. We get our final technical lesson from Pip, on using an ice
axe. We have dinner with Betsy and Kevin's patrol. Barbeque
chicken and hamburgers have never tasted so good! The women of our
patrol clean up, with Pip and Mac keeping up us company, while Matt tries
to change his plane flight and Jeff sets up for our final evening circle.
Waiting for everything to get worked out, we lie out under the stars
while Elena sings for us. Then Jeff leads us across the parking lot
to our last medicine wheel. We celebrate the course and each other
with Outward Bound pins and our final beads: white for the north and wisdom.
Many of us dedicate additional beads, particularly to the group as a whole,
and our wonderful instructors and friends, Matt and Jeff.
