Beautiful places in San Diego

Subjects
I interviewed three students with
both an inside class perspective as well as an outside perspective of the class.
Two were roommates that have no experience in web design and the third person
is a class mate.
Think Aloud Task
I asked my friends what they notice
initially about my website. Do the colors compliment the page, how easy is it
to navigate, is clutter a problem, do links and other devices work properly,
what could be added/taken away?
Summary of Think Aloud
The two people outside of the class
really liked the site. They were able to navigate quickly and thoroughly. They
said that the colors don’t really implement the strategy of what the content is
about but the way it is panned out fits my personality as a designer. They also
said the organization of my web layout was perfect and the pictures really draw
attention to each place specifically. My fellow classmate said that my layout
and color scheme works and the initial banner at the title screen is an
attention getter, but more pictures would capture the attention more. He also
added that I could change the titles of each page to fit the content not just
leaving the initial title page for all of them. One of my roommates said that
if I added a search menu to browse or add other tweaks such as buttons that
link to facebook would add more.
Summary of Post-test Interview
Overall the responses were positive.
I received feedback based on what I could do to fix my site and what I can
keep. The fonts and styles are set up well with the contrast of the layout.
Adding more pictures can enhance my page and make it more credible.
Findings to be implemented
As a result of the alpha test, I
will make the following changes:
1) Add more personal pictures.
2) Make buttons that are lined
to specific sites.
3) Fix titles on separate
pages
4) Make a search box for
immediate web access to the World Wide Web.
Findings that will not be
implemented
I won’t change the colors or the
layout of my page because I feel the colors bring out my personality in web
design. I feel the content is most important and the way the colors implement
night life brings a contrast between the night life of San Diego and things to
just do in your day.
