IB students will take comprehensive coursework covering the following areas:

Business Courses

All IB students will complete the same "core" business courses for the major. In addition, each student will choose a specialization in Economics, Finance, Management, or Marketing.

Language Courses

The language portion of the IB major consists of at least 12 units of upper division language courses (16 for Japanese emphasis). The number of required lower division units varies depending on the language and previous language exposure.

Regional Studies Courses

The regional studies component of the major is designed to teach students about a region where their language of emphasis is spoken and to prepare them for the Semester Abroad Requirement. Students select from a list of courses on the region and take lower division and upper division regional studies courses.

Declare Upper Division When....

1. You have completed the lower division courses listed on the advising guide with a grade of C or higher.
2. You have attended IB 101 and met with the IB Academic Advisor.
3. You have reached a cumulative GPA of 2.90 or higher.
4. You have earned 60 units or more.

Keep in mind...

1. Pre-IB students who have earned 75 units or more but have not yet reached a cumulative GPA of 2.90 or higher will be removed from the major and placed in the "undeclared" major category.
2. IB students whose high school language of instruction was taught in a language other than English may not take that language as their emphasis in the major (Contact the IB Office for further explanation). Exceptions can be made for students enrolled in a dual degree program through IB.
3. IB students cannot double major OR minor in the language they have selected for IB.
4. IB students cannot double major OR minor in any of the departments within the College of Business (i.e. MKTG, MGT, FIN).
